Sedation Dentistry
We offer a couple different forms of sedation services in our office including nitrous oxide (laughing gas), and moderate oral sedation.
NITROUS OXIDE
Nitrous oxide (N2O) is simply a gas mixed with oxygen which you can breathe in. Nitrous Oxide Gas is for those who experience a low level of fear or anxiety associated with the dentist, and still need help calming worries. Patients who use nitrous oxide gas for their sedation dentistry remain aware of their surroundings at all times throughout the procedure. Our staff is trained in administering Nitrous Oxide, as well as monitoring your blood pressure and pulse at all times during the treatment.
ORAL SEDATION
Most commonly, oral sedation (usually in the form of anti-anxiety pills) is prescribed for relieving anxiety in the hour immediately before a dental appointment. It will allow you to feel calmer and more relaxed after taking the medication. You shouldn’t drive or travel on your own after you’ve taken the doses, as you may become slightly disorientated.
